Why the color isn't the actual spec
Coolant color is a manufacturer convention, not a chemical standard — there's no universal rule that "blue means BMW-compatible." What goes wrong when types get mixed

BMW's standard interval is 4–5 years or roughly 60,000 miles, whichever comes first — coolant's corrosion-inhibiting additives deplete over time even if the coolant itself still looks fine and the car has never overheated.
